I am a senior psychology student at Istanbul Sehir University. Broadly I am interested in cognitive emotional development in childhood and adolescence. To be more specific I am wondering how the cognitive and emotional development of children at risk is, how learning processes at school differ for children at risk, which mechanisms are important for them to cope with their stressors and how these mechanisms can be used efficiently. Currently, I am working on affective processing in Syrian refugee adolescents under the supervision of Dr. Sven Mueller and Dr. Barış Metin. In this project we are trying to examine the affective bias in young refugees and how emotion influences critical cognitive functions such as short-term memory. Besides the academic work, I have been working on the projects for Syrian Children/Adolescents which inspired and made me think about the development of children at risk.
