My PhD focuses on elucidating cognitive and emotional mechanisms that play a role in the development of adolescent depression. I am particularly interested in the influence of emotion on cognitive control processes, such as inhibition and working memory, in adolescents with elevated depressive symptoms. A second focus of my research includes the role of emotion regulation in adolescent mental health. Currently, we are investigating the effectiveness of a universal school-based emotion regulation training in preventing psychological problems in early adolescents.
